Kitchen sinks with two bowls: how many taps should we install?

Within the catalogue of Atron kitchen sinks we find one- and two-bowl models. Choosing one model or another does not seem to have a clear majority preference, so it is easy to find homes with both double and single sinks fitted with one or two taps. But depending on our lifestyle and the way we use our kitchen, how many taps is it advisable to install?

A sink for every lifestyle

If we barely spend any time in the kitchen, the ideal choice would be a small sink to which we can fit a high-spout tap or a horizontal tap. On the other hand, if the kitchen is a key room for family life, we can opt for the installation of a single bowl – only if we have a dishwasher – or two bowls, with more space for soaping and rinsing.

Number of taps for two bowls: one or two?

Normally, domestic kitchens tend to use a single tap – whether they have one bowl or two. However, for double kitchen sinks or sinks with considerable dimensions, it is advisable to install a pull-out spout tap in order to make the most of the space – especially for the proper handling of food and kitchenware.

Another aspect to bear in mind when installing one or two taps is the water pressure in the system, since with low pressure the flow can be reduced if we decide to install two taps.

Therefore, we can say that what should weigh most in the choice of one type of sink or another, as well as in the installation of one or two taps, is not only the space and the function we intend to give them, but also the lifestyle we lead.
