The fact that the kitchen has become a space where we integrate our daily life gives rise to new design trends in terms of approach and the elements that make it up, such as sinks.
Below, we will list
the trends for 2019 in terms of materials, appliances,
furniture, lighting and colours.
Materials
Tiles with
geometric and wood-effect designs will be one of the trends for 2019, and they can
be used on both walls and floors. They will stand out mainly because of their
colours.
Moreover, wood and
concrete will also be used for floors as well as for cladding
furniture, worktops and islands. If both materials are combined,
we will obtain highly sophisticated spaces with a very modern look.
Rustic walls in brick
or stone are also making a comeback as a decorating idea,
especially in the restoration of old spaces to which a
retro touch is desired.
Likewise, the use of
dark porcelain or slate with 3D tiles is gaining ground, and the marble worktop is
starting to be set aside by interior designers because of how easily it can be damaged. Their
new option is the use of synthetic materials, which are much more durable and have a
very attractive design.
Linked to synthetic material and within
the world of sinks, three types remain: synthetic, granite
and stainless steel, for their durability and price.
Appliances and furniture
Matte black is becoming
the leading trend in appliances, along with French-door fridges and
self-cleaning ovens with built-in steam.
As for furniture,
shelves and storage units integrated into the wall and extending
up to the ceiling will prevail. Shelves will be open or floating, and drawers will be deep
with automatic closing.
Lighting and colours
As for lighting,
lights have started to be concealed inside furniture and ceilings in order
to illuminate the work area much better. However, pendant lamps will
be used more and more because they are considered very decorative and elegant.
Finally, when it comes to
colours, the most widely used this year will be black and dark grey – both
colours with a natural simplicity and earthy exuberance – blue (for
wall units and in combination with colours such as grey, white or
black), green, dusty pink, timeless white for walls and furniture, the
combination of grey and beige, and a few intense and vibrant touches of colour –
such as orange – with the aim of imposing a defined and modern style.

kitchen this year? Apply these trends and succeed!
