Making the most of islands by installing a sink or other ideas

Making the most of the space in a large kitchen by installing an island is always a very good idea. On it, we can install the sinksink, the cooking area or use it as a table for diners.

The fact that it is an isolated module makes it flexible enough to make the most of all its sides and become a perfect room divider, while also encouraging participation and communication among those who enter the kitchen.

Cooking in front of diners

This simple fact is perfect for generating conversation and rapport. To achieve this, the ideal choice is to install the cooking area, the sink and a completely flat zone on the island for preparing the food we are going to cook. The extractor hood will therefore be placed on the ceiling and, behind us, the appliances and storage cabinets.

Depending on the size of the island – which is recommended to be between 250 and 270 cm – we can install high bar-stool-style seating to better define the area intended for diners.

With an island offering all the features we have described, all family members and occasional guests will undoubtedly gain in comfort, making the mere act of cooking a real pleasure.
